PB23 - Procurement update
Subject: Procurement Act 2023 – Go Live delay.
Today the Cabinet Office has announced that the Procurement Act 2023 will now commence on 24 February 2025 - a delay of four months from the original go-live date of 28 October 2024 to allow time for a new National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS) to be produced.
The full statement can read here:
Procurement Act 2023 Update - Statement made on 12 September 2024
The NPPS sets out the Government’s strategic policy priorities for public procurement and is an essential element of the Procurement Act. The new NPPS will meets the challenge of applying the full potential of public procurement to deliver value for money, economic growth and social value.
The additional time to prepare will also allow for a more seamless digital transition for both the Council and suppliers.
Our current procurements are not affected, however any procurement formally started after the new “Go Live” date will follow the new regulations. The procurement team will continue to implement the changes required in its processes and documentation, and to provide support to the Council’s staff through training courses and guidance material.
Further updates will be provided to all staff via the usual internal comms channels and via our Procurement On A Page reports.
